SAVIN ROCK CONFERENCE
Home of Legendary Savin Rock
The luxurious Savin Rock Conference Center caters to any special occasion, hosting everything from business conventions and seminars to weddings and anniversary parties.
The magnificent waterfront building, which skirts West Haven's popular beach front boardwalk and legendary Savin Rock landmark, overlooks our pristine 3.5 mile shoreline and boasts several breathtaking panoramas of Long Island Sound, including New Haven's Lighthouse Point. Furthermore, the romantic Sound and our crown jewel - Connecticut's largest arsenal of public beaches - highlights the conference center's spectacular ambiance.
In 1994, thanks to three grants - two federal and one state - totaling $946,000, the city's waterfront building underwent dozens of renovations to transform its aging, boarded-up physique, which housed three well known restaurants, into a state-of-the art conference center furnished with old Savin Rock memorabilia. Mayor H. Richard Borer Jr. officially unveiled the conference center April 9, 1997, at the city's kickoff breakfast ceremony.
The conference center's theme resembles West Haven's famous late-19th century Savin Rock amusement park, which succumbed to redevelopment in 1964. Dozens of antique photographs and pictures, bearing the thrill park, adorn its elegant walls. In addition, the contemporary, plush building is furnished with cutting-edge technology and equipment.
Historic West Haven is alive year round, offering a thrilling nightlife that features a variety of famous eateries, hot spots, and live entertainment. For decades, our exciting city has been known for its vast selection of fresh seafood and mouth-watering cuisine.
Each year, thousands of walking buffs flock to the city's scenic shoreline to stroll along our bustling 1.5-mile boardwalk. The boardwalk's extraordinary hype has helped West Haven, a favorite vacationing getaway for New Englanders in the '30s and ‘40s, regain its title as Connecticut's No. 1 picnicking haven and fun-in-the-sun paradise.
The conference center is conveniently located on Rock Street off Captain Thomas Boulevard, only minutes from Interstates 95 and 91, U.S. Route 1, Route 34, and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways. The building's ample 175-space parking lot includes several Victorian era lampposts that illuminate the area to ensure safe, easy parking for our guests.
Our out-of-town guests will enjoy their overnight stay at any of West Haven's first-class hotels or motels. We also offer our guests a friendly, small-town shopping experience, featuring everything from fine clothing and jewelry to homemade crafts and antiques.
Enjoy your stay in West Haven and best wishes for a wonderful event.
